You have a free evening in Paris and no idea what to do with it. Near Now takes where you are and when you are free, and answers with a short, ordered list of real things you could actually go to — not a map covered in a thousand pins.

No map, on purpose

Every other app in this category opens on a map. A map is a beautiful way to show you everything and a terrible way to help you choose. Near Now shows you about a dozen things at a time, best first, and each one tells you how far away it is and when it starts.

When you have picked something, the directions open in the maps app you already use and already trust. We are not trying to replace it.

One question: when are you free?

Not a start date and an end date. One control. Right now, this weekend, this week — or pick a day and narrow it to the morning, the afternoon or the evening.

Evening runs until three in the morning, because a set that starts at one o'clock belongs to the night you went out on, not the next day. Small decision; it is the difference between finding the thing and not.

One card for one thing

A play with thirty dates is one card with thirty dates on it, not thirty results. An exhibition that has been running for a month still counts as an answer to "what can I do right now", but it will not crowd out the concert that actually starts tonight.

What else is in it

  • Free and bookable filters, because "what can I do tonight" and "what can I do tonight for nothing" are different questions.

  • Save anything, anywhere. Saves work with no signal and catch up when you are back online.

  • French and English, switched instantly, with no restart and no reinstall.

  • Nothing appears unchecked. Everything is reviewed before it reaches you, whether it came from the city's own listings or from a venue that wrote to us.

  • Venues can submit their own events through a bilingual form, and follow-up notifications tell you when somewhere you follow puts something on.

Where it is now

The app is built and running against live Paris listings — thousands of real events, updated through the day. Both languages are complete, saving and sharing work, and venue submissions are open.

What is next

  • A closed beta in Paris. Real evenings, real people, and the only honest test of whether the ranking is any good.

  • Editorial picks. A short, human reason to go, written for the things worth going to.

  • Then more cities, once Paris is genuinely good rather than merely working.

  • An ad-free tier for anyone who would rather pay than scroll past a sponsored card.
